Hi all! This will be a short post, but I'm here in Kamchatka and having a great time. I understand alotmore Russian than I thought I would and my host parents, Oksana and Igor, are amazing! The trip waslong, but straight forward and I mademy heathrow connection with time to spare.
During my 12 hour moscow layover, a girl named Dasha, the daughter of one of the rotarians here, met me and helped me get on my next flight. during the layover, we went into Moscow to see the Kremlin and eat lunch. amazing!
People here are very friendly. I've already received invitations to go places. Our apartment is small, but I love it. It's very homy and comfy!
I start school Mondayand am very excited. Anyway, more later.

- I'm keeping this blog as an account of my adventures in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia. I will be living here for a school year and studying at Kamchatka State University. My goals are to improve my Russian skills, meet people, and learn all about culture. I hope that I can do some camping in the amazing wilderness of the Kamchatka peninsula as well. I graduated from Thomas Jefferson HS in June 2007 and will attend Pomona College when I return. I consider myself a free spirit, or at least that is my goal. I want to forge my own path, venture beyond my comfort zone, and take long drives into the countryside just for the hell of it. After my exchange, some other goals include: -driving across the United States to see the country -traveling -becoming better at guitar and writing songs -doing good in the world -finding a career I love -Doing a hell of a lot of outdoors stuff
